Meet our THRIVE Mastermind member Dana Mooney

THRIVE Mastermind

is made up of small groups of female artists that meet once a month for a year to develop their art practices. At each meeting, members share their artistic achievements and struggles of the month for critique and feedback. Our mission with our exclusive Mastermind is to empower female artists to unlock their greatest potential in their art practices, their businesses and their lives. Making the (art)world a better place one artist at a time.

Today we invite you to get to know one of our THRIVE Mastermind members Dana Mooney and hear about her experiences as a THRIVE Mastermind member below!

Dana Mooney's background is in makeup artistry and interior decorating, but painting has been a common thread throughout her entire life. Dana has now been painting full time for the last 3 and a half years and has never been happier with her life and self! It has been so amazing to see Dana grow and flourish in the last 10 months. One of the most exciting things we have seen Dana do over the last year has been her collaborations with some major local home décor and wellness brands! From throw pillows with Joue Designs, to aromatherapy infusers with Saje Wellness, to combining her artworks with custom neon lighting by Andrew Hibbs of Endeavour Neon, Dana is expanding her empire and we can’t wait to see what is next for this thriving artist! We have enjoyed being part of her journey for the last 10 months and are so pleased to have her as a THRIVE Mastermind member for another year.

THRIVE Studio asked Dana a few questions about her experiences as a THRIVE Mastermind member!

What inspired you join THRIVE Mastermind?

I joined THRIVE Mastermind last year without having any expectations but with the goal of getting to know fellow female entrepreneur artists and see where that would lead me.  I was lacking in the "arts" community with too much of my focus being put into the "design" community, and wanted to become more involved, aware and well rounded in my business.

You’ve been with THRIVE Mastermind since the very beginning! What makes you keep coming back?

So, over the past year, THRIVE has far exceeded anything I could have wanted to gain from joining the group.  Every time that we get together I leave feeling completely energized, refreshed and motivated with a huge list of exciting things to do and learn more about.  I cannot express really in words how being a part of such an amazing group of women on similar life tracks has influenced me in not only my art business but overall wellbeing and life! To know that I have the support anytime that I need it, and a never ending list of resources and knowledge being shared constantly just pushes me to continue doing what I love.

What are the top three things you have gained from your THRIVE Mastermind experience?

Support, inspiration and resources.

What was your biggest concern before joining? Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead?

My biggest concern was only my own time management. I struggle with having a full calendar but have learned that making time for what is truly beneficial, fun and important both for my business and self has helped wipe this concern out.  THRIVE has become one of my top priorities.

Who do you think THRIVE Mastermind is for?

THRIVE Mastermind is only for women artists who care deeply about what they are doing. They have to be somewhat obsessed with their business and art and want to continue to push themselves to grow.Basically, if you're a girl boss who wants to kill it in the art industry, join this group.

What are you currently working on?

This question comes up at every meeting and I laugh at how when all of the members tell each other what they're doing it's like a huge list of 10 things each, and they are not small tasks! I'm currently working on two shows, one of which is my biggest solo show yet on July 14 at the Waterfall building.  I'm also working on a new exciting summer collaboration project that I will be sharing soon, some commissions, and then the usual stuff of balancing social media, admin. Oh ya and trying to stay focused when summer has arrived early is always a struggle!
