THRIVE Mastermind is made up of small groups of female artists that meet once a month for a year to develop their art practices. At each meeting, members share their artistic achievements and struggles of the month for critique and feedback. Our mission with our exclusive Mastermind is to empower female artists to unlock their greatest potential in their art practices, their businesses and their lives. Making the (art)world a better place one artist at a time.
Today we invite you to get to know one of our THRIVE Mastermind members Tara Galuska and hear about her experiences as a THRIVE Mastermind member below!
Tara Galuska is an artist and illustrator who creates poetry with paper! Tara joined THRIVE Mastermind a month after relaunching her website with all new paper artworks. During the time she has been with THRIVE Mastermind she has begun selling her work, been featured online and in print (including UPPERCASE magazine and on Poppytalk), done illustration work for clients including Urban Outfitters and grown her Instagram following from around 2,000 to 16,000 people! Tara is now focused on her client illustration work and keeping her online shop filled with new work. Tara's hard work and dedication are resulting in her truly being a thriving artist! We have enjoyed being part of her journey for the last 10 months and are so pleased to have her as a THRIVE Mastermind member for another year!
THRIVE Studio asked Tara a few questions about her experiences as a THRIVE Mastermind member!
What inspired you join THRIVE Mastermind?
I was at a very exciting but also daunting point in my art business. I had created a collection of work and was ready to get it out into the world but knew that to be successful I needed to gather all the support I could! When I heard about THRIVE Mastermind I knew it was something I needed to get me where I want to go.
You’ve been with THRIVE Mastermind since the very beginning! What makes you keep coming back?
The other artists! I always leave a meeting feeling lighter, inspired and energized. I love that I can talk freely about the ups and downs of my art practice and business with people who truly understand and can relate.
What are the top three things you have gained from your THRIVE Mastermind experience?
Clarity, confidence and support.
What was your biggest concern before joining? Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead?
I take any investment of my time and money very seriously and didn't want to commit to something that would not be a wise investment of both. My concerns weren't too big because I've known Jamie (the founder of THRIVE Studio) for some time and I either knew the other artists involved or admired them from afar, so I felt confident that it would be the right choice for me. Which it happily has been!
Who do you think THRIVE Mastermind is for?
You need to be ready to be a thriving artist with a business mindset!
Things can get really real in a THRIVE Mastermind meeting and if you can't be there for someone in a real and genuine way then it's not the right place for you. The qualities I have noticed in all the other members have been open mindedness, ambition, determination, integrity, courage, strong personal values and a willingness to be vulnerable. I think if you have those qualities and are ready to commit then THRIVE Mastermind is for you. If you aren't there yet that's cool too and I'd totally recommend THRIVE Talks!
What are you currently working on?
I am really excited to be taking part in ROVE! I'm working on some new pieces for that and I also have plans to make some larger works.
